Within the Encoura platform, you can name searches, and groups of searches, to keep track of students who meet a set of criteria or associate saved searches to an order. Using strong naming conventions for these searches will help your team organize strategic objectives and associate groups of students to specific campaigns or initiatives.
Naming a Search
In Class Planner®, we call a group of students meeting a set of criteria a search. Searches can be saved, reused, or edited to create new searches. When saving a search, we recommend using a name that is descriptive of the search criteria within the search. For example, the search below shows us over 4,000 students in Ohio, but it does not tell us anything else about the students in this search. It could be confusing to employees or even an Encoura Member Support Representative to understand how this search fits your needs. Instead, we would recommend using a more descriptive name for this search that is indicative of the search criteria used to create it.
Naming a Search Group
Once you have built a group of searches and are ready to add them to your cart, you can select and name the searches you would like to group together in an order. We call a group of searches in an order, a Search Group. When naming a search group, we suggest using a name that is indicative of the strategic objective you’re associating them with. For example, perhaps you have a strategic objective to enroll more high achieving women on your campus. You might create a group of searches including graduating females from your primary markets with great GPAs and interest in various programs offered through your liberal arts college. Searches saved under this search group might be named:
2018 / >B GPA / F / [ insert primary market] / Political Science
2018 / >B GPA / F / [ insert primary market] / Anthropology
2018 / >B GPA / F / [ insert primary market] / Philosophy
2018 / >B GPA / F / [ insert primary market] / Sociology
We would suggest naming this search group:
2018 / >B / F + Liberal Arts
This name will appear in your completed orders with an option to view all of the searches included in this search group by clicking “Order Details” on the completed order. Searches saved under this search group might be named:
ProTip for Agency Partners: Adding the institution’s name to a search or search group can be a useful tool to help your agency account team differentiate between your searches and the other clients they represent. For example,
Sample University / 2018 / >B / Females + Liberal Arts
