The Test Score Range filter allows users to search for students based on Official Scores (ACT and PreACT) or unofficial Self-Reported scores (ACT/SAT). These filters can be used for Search including Prospect, Affinity and eMatch®. These are mutually exclusive, meaning users cannot filter for both Official and Self-Reported in the same search. Use the dropdown menu in the filter to switch between Official mode and Self-Reported mode.
Official Mode
Radio buttons
- Selecting the None radio button turns off the filter and deactivates the elements in the filter.
- Selecting the ACT radio button activates the filter and elements allowing you to select scores from 1-36.
- Selecting the PreACT radio button activates the filter and elements allowing you to select scores from 1-35.
Slider
- Use the MIN and MAX icons to select your score range.
- The minimum range of the slider is 3 points for either ACT or PreACT.
Scores
- As the MIN and MAX icons are moved, the score range is displayed.
- For users more familiar with SAT score ranges, the equivalent SAT value is displayed although no official SAT scores are included. The Equivalent SAT range is determined by the most recent concordance table.
Self-Reported Mode
Radio buttons
- Selecting the None radio button turns off the filter and deactivates the elements in the filter.
- Selecting the ACT/SAT radio button activates the filter and elements.
Slider
- The minimum range of the slider is 3 ACT points.
- There is one slider for simultaneously filtering self-reported ACT and SAT scores. SAT scores are converted to the ACT scale so that Encoura can use the higher of the two in the event that a student has provided both.
Scores
- As the MIN and MAX icons are moved, the score range is displayed.
- The SAT scores use the same concordance conversion that we’re using in official mode. Users can click the scores to learn more about concordance from ACT.org
The following table explains which students should be returned in each type of search and how it works with the ‘Include students without a score’ checkbox.

*This prevents a scenario where a search could return a student record with a high self-reported score but a low official score
