The Competition Analysis report provides a view into the college-bound student database with a focus on your competition. Competition is measured using your Institution Visibility compared to the Institution Visibility of every other college and university. By focusing on the overlap between institutions, this report will help answer questions about your institution visibility, such as:
- Who do I compete with for minority, female, engineering students?
- In my primary states, who do I compete with for students interested in nursing?
- As I explore secondary markets, who am I competing with for students matching our ACT and GPA range?
- Which colleges do I compete with for high achieving students? And who wins in those head-to-head matchups?
Filter Options
The geographic filters shown allow you to focus on specific states, geomarkets, counties, SCF, or zip codes. When editing any filters, you will be prompted to Show Results which will apply the selected filters and update each of the visualizations based on your selection.
In addition, selecting the Add Filter option will provide access to 14 additional filters to more precisely identify the data being researched.
Visualization
The Competition Analysis report includes a grid displaying your competition. By default, the grid displays the most recent year and will sort based on Shared Visibility, which indicates the number of students expressing interest in both your institution and your competition. The grid displays each of the data points below, which can be sorted in any of the following directions:
Name - The institution name of the competitor.
State - The primary state where the competitor can be found.
ACT Code - The ACT College Code for the competitor.
Type - The type of institution (4-year, 2-year) of the competitor.
Visibility/Competitor - The number of students expressing interest in the competitor.
Visibility/Shared - The number of students who have expressed interest in both your institution and the competitor.
Visibility/Unshared - The number of students that expressed interest in the competitor, but not your institution.
Enrollment Results/My Enrolled - Based on the Shared Visibility, the number of students that ultimately enrolled at your institution (wins).
Enrollment Results/Competitor - Based on the Shared Visibility, the number of students that ultimately enrolled at the competitor (losses).
Enrollment Results/Other - Based on the Shared Visibility, the number of students that ultimately enrolled somewhere different (not at your institution and not at this competitor).
